W25 Kid Invent Theatre: Play On! Session B

Put those newly-honed acting skills to work, rehearsing and performing an original play. Continue to work on diction, character development, and body awareness while also exploring ensemble building. Perform the play on the final day of class for your family! Returning students who have taken this class before are always welcome, as scripts are new each session. This class builds on the fall session's Kids Invent Theatre: Fall Playmakers however new students may sign up if they wish.

W25 Creative Drama II: Story Quest

Grades 1-2 • Saturdays, 10:30-11:30 AM, Jan. 4 – Mar. 8, 2025 • $170 Subscribers/$180 Non-subscribers

Each class always starts with a good story, with characters and places that leap out of the pages of a book. Where will be go from there? It’s up to you! Beginning acting skills, body awareness, self-expression, and literacy skills are reinforced.

W25 Creative Characters: Act Out Session B

Grades 2-3 • Saturdays, 10:45-12:00 PM, Jan. 6 – Mar. 2, 2025 • $210 Subscribers/$220 Non-subscribers

Students continue to transition to a more disciplined approach to theatre arts. While keeping it developmentally appropriate, young actors will begin to use scripted and original material to focus on creating a character and collaborating with others in an ensemble. This is a beginning acting class that will focus on vocal projection and fluency, expressiveness, and body awareness.

*Parents may attend an informal sharing on the last day of class.

Children will bring favorite books to life and become the characters they love! We’ll act out stories, play theatre games and sing songs, all while introducing basic theatre and acting concepts and reinforcing literacy and cooperation skills. Wanted: young actors who are ready to take the stage by storm. Work on vocal projection, diction and body awareness, along with other performance skills, using a play chosen just for our class needs. Join Playhouse artistic director Katy Merriman,Waitress choreographer Kent Zimmerman, and other area theatre professionals in this four-part audition class series to fine tune auditioning skills for both plays and musicals.
